Lee Loi Industries was first started in 1977 on a shared platform space in Row B of the New York City Terminal Produce Market. The Company's founder, Wai Wah Lee, was introduced to the produce business through his friend, Peter Lau. With an agreement with D. Loi Industries, they were the first in the Hunts Point Terminal Market to source Chinese vegetables and tropical produce to the public. In 1984, the owner of D. Loi Industries proposed three options to Wai Lee. The first was to manage the entire operations of D. Loi Industries. The second was to rent out the space. The last was to outright purchase the entire company. Wai Lee sold his house and used his life savings to purchase the units from D. Loi Industries and thus Lee Loi Industries was born. Over the years, he was able to expand his small stand-like business into what is now over three units at the Market Co-op. And throughout the years, Lee Loi Industries has expanded its product line to include over forty different varieties of quality produce to its customers. We pride ourselves in what we do, and we look forward to continuing our partnerships and providing the freshest produce to our valued customers for years to come.
